Surface preparation is an important step for the development of proper bond with a new concrete or a floor coating. 

Mechanical preparation is the most common technique. It consists of removing a thin layer of concrete. Different surfaces can be obtained depending on the equipment used (Grinder, Scabbler, Scarifier, Shot-Blast)
